After the success of the Ark project in 2010, CIAO! is now working on a spectacular community project, The Tree of Light, which forms part of the CIAO! Festival for 2012 and will culminate in a large-scale, outdoor performance in July 2012 as part of the Cultural Olympiad. To produce the Tree of Light, CIAO! has joined forces with three other arts organisations in the region, Henley Festival, Windsor Festival and Oxford Inspires and the project is one of only four to be awarded funding by Legacy Trust UK. The centre piece of the project will be a giant, sculpted Tree of Light, lit by low-energy LED light and powered by sustainable energy generated by cyclists and rowers.
Workshops begin in September 2011, and CIAO! hopes to involve as many as 1,500 people across Oxfordshire. Read More...
