CIAO! Ark Project

image The Ark is a spectacular public art installation that will showcase visual and performing arts created by 10 schools across Oxfordshire in response to the question – ‘If you were sailing away on an Ark to a low carbon future, what would you take with you and what would you leave behind?’.

This innovative project will culminate in the arrival of the Ark on the front lawn of Oxford University Museum of Natural History from 23rd - 27th June as the centrepiece of a five-day arts and science celebration. The project explores ‘a positive vision of a low carbon future’ by bringing together artists and environmental scientists with innovators in the fields of technology, architecture and engineering to create a picture of a low carbon world that we can all aspire to.

During the Ark’s installation in this iconic setting at the centre of Oxford University’s science quarter, the five day celebration will include workshops and performances as well as evening events such as a jazz concert co-presented with the Oxford Jazz Festival on Friday 25th June.

Visitors entering the Ark will be able to view exhibits and performances after passing through a ‘Sea of Troubles’, where they will find interactive representations of what people would choose to leave behind if they were sailing away to a low carbon future.
